2006-2010

This period brings a new brand and the newest technology to the Volkswagen Group in Bratislava.

A quarter million Touaregs

On 21 April 2006, the 250,000th Volkswagen Touareg leaves the manufacturing line. This jubilee Touareg tests its off-road abilities on the Bratislava plant’s off-road track.

The two million mark crossed

The two million mark of vehicles produced by Volkswagen Slovakia is crossed on 25 May 2007. This two million mark is crossed almost exactly four years after the manufacturing of the millionth vehicle.

Škoda arrives

In March 2008, the manufacturing of the Škoda Octavia starts in Bratislava. The President of the Slovak Republic, Ivan Gašparovič, also attends the opening celebration. The manufacturing portfolio hereby expands to include four brands: Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and Škoda.

New generation SUV

In February 2010, manufacturing of the new generation models Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne start in Bratislava. The new Touareg earns the attribute of the most innovative vehicle since the establishment of the Volkswagen brand.

Five million gearboxes

In March 2010, Volkswagen Slovakia has already produced its 5 millionth gearbox, the 6-speed MQ250 Start-Stop for VW Blue Motion second generation vehicles. At the time, 30 types of gearboxes for the car brands VW, Audi, Škoda and SEAT are produced in Bratislava.

First Hybrid of the Volkswagen Group

On 4 April 2010, the Bratislava plant of Volkswagen Slovakia is the first of 61 Volkswagen Group plants to start the mass production of a hybrid vehicle, the Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid. A thousand employees are specially trained for this production.

One million SUVs produced

The one million mark of SUVs (Sports Utility Vehicles) produced by Volkswagen Slovakia is crossed on 15 April 2010.

The largest Slovak car maker

The 2.5 million mark of cars produced by Volkswagen Slovakia is crossed on 28 May 2010. Throughout its history, it has produced 9 models of different generations (VW - Passat, Golf, Bora, Polo and Touareg, SEAT Ibiza, Audi Q7, Škoda Octavia and Porsche Cayenne bodies).

10 years of the Martin plant

On 1 June 2010, the Martin plant of Volkswagen Slovakia celebrates its 10th anniversary and the manufacturing of its 200,000,000th component. Differentials, flanges, brake drums, brake discs, wheel hubs, flanged shafts and synchronous rings are fitted to VW, Audi, Škoda, SEAT and Porsche vehicle brands.

The half millionth Touareg

At the beginning of December, Volkswagen Slovakia produces its 500,000th Touareg. Manufacturing of its two generations and hybrid version makes it the most produced SUV of the Bratislava plant. The jubilee Touareg V6 TDI is ordered by a customer from Luxembourg.
